crazy landlord

By frustrated in el paso

I live with my friend who is in the military in El Paso, tx and his landlord has claimed that we have to pay for damages done to 2 doors and a window because of a atempted break in, when we refused to pay for the damages he sent a email to most of the military base claiming that my friend is in violation of his lease (his lease ended in oct 2010) and the landlord has never ask him to sign a new one, as well as acusing him of adultery charges (which are a huge deal in the military) because i live in the house with him and he has been going threw a divorce for over a year. he has come to the house and screamed at me, made threats, and even called me a bitch even though i never raised my voice at him. these are not the only problems we have had with this landlord and i really would like to know if there is anything we can do? we have talked to other tenants who claim they have had simalar dealings with him. please please tell me if there is anything we can do?
