BAD LANDLORD, DO NOT RENT FROM HIM, LIAR, CHEAP AND UNFAIR

BAD LANDLORD!
I had rented a home @741 La Fond Ave, Dayton, NV from this bad landlord in the recent past. His home was not in a standard rental condition, but due to the lack of homes for rent in an area that I was interested and being a horse property, decided to give it a try, against my best judgement. I must have been pretty desperate to rent a home in this bad condition. I had asked him if he could do any of the following repairs, but of course he didn’t think he needed to and wanted to leave that responsibility up to me. I had a professional cleaning service come in to give it a good clean before I moved in and didn’t ask for reimbursement. Not that I would have received any!
His home had bleach stains on the carpet the size of a dinner plate, there were scratches on the kitchen linoleum, refrigerater was dirty, no garbage disposal, broken towel bar, dirty and worn out cabinets, dining and living room blinds would not open very easily and were dirty, large holes in dining area screen, faulty swamp cooler, mice droppings, M.Bath shower had cracks and yellowing fiberglass, guest bath had cracks in tub, filthy window tracks, no filter in hallway vent causing dirt to reenter the home, dirty garage with damages, property littered with trash, bottles, weeds and much more.
He charged a $1500 deposit, and $800 was towards any horse damages. So $700 was the deposit on the home, which was already in disrepair. He refused to repair anything during the time I had rented from him, saying it was always my responsibility.
He does not return phone calls or letters written to him, probably to avoid any issues on his home. This man needs to read up on how to be a good landlord, or even a half-way decent one. I’m very surprised he’s still in the business of renting his home, maybe not enough renters are stepping up to the plate and filing complaints against these LOSER LANDLORDS!
When it was time to move, I gave him a 30 day notice in writing and asked that my deposit be returned in a timely manner, if there weren’t any issues. I gave him every opportunity to meet with me and go over any questions he may have. I had the home cleaned professionally again, cleaned up the property and left new curtains in the kitchen.
He will avoid you at all costs, so your deposit doesn’t get returned. I found out who the previous tenants were and contacted them to get a little background on him, and lo and behold, they all did not receive their deposits back either, even though the home was left better than was given to them.
I proceeded to take him to court for my deposit of $1500. Then I found out that he countersued me for $2000! What a scammer! He lied and stated that there were no damages to his home when he rented to me and wanted to charge for all the repairs that were’nt done by him before I rented the home. On the contract, it was written there were bleach stains, floor damages, etc. but he had the gall to pursue it anyway!
Hey, it gets worse…I went to court with all my letters of proof, statements etc. and the judge wouldn’t look at any of them! He said it meant nothing to him! What? he refusing to look at any evidence is beyond me. This should have been a slam dunk, but obviously Nevada is a landlord state. Where is justice anymore? So I walked away with no one owing any monies to each other and I lose my entire $1500 deposit to this slime bag DAVE THOMAS OF CARSON CITY, NV!!!!!!!
So I conclude with RENTER BE AWARE that there are bad landlords out there, even if you cover all your bases, there’s a chance you’ll get a incompetent judge to boot!
Renter no more!

debbie winters 180 ponderosa number 4 wouldn’t keep in touch fix anything I steamcleaned carpets that they made an appointment to do and missed we paid they didn’t do upkeep on the house they won’t give the deposit back they want 800 more when they never showed up to do repairs they were responsible for they are scammers we work hard to live and these people want to keep taking our money for their problems |
