Problem with my managers

By christie

I need some advice and I’m hoping you can help. I was a victim of water damage from a fire in February caused by the woman upstairs. My problem is this: I didn’t have insurance and my complex ended up paying for my hotel because I didn’t have anywhere to go. The red cross payed for three days also. Well what was supposed to take two weeks to fix my apartment took way over a month. The manager of my complex told me in the beginning that I would get a credit for my rent and utilities but little by little it was taking away from me. In the end they only ended up paying half of my 63.00 electric bill which my bill is not over 30.00 every month. They were using power tools etc.. so it went up for that time. They finally gave me the credit last month. I was not in my apartment from February to March. I was hoping I could get those credits I am on a limited income and am struggling. Is there anything I can do?? Please help.

Hi Christie. So sorry to hear about your current situation. Did you talk to your landlord about this? I think that you should not pay for the utilities in which you did not use. I suggest that you talk to your landlord about your concern and let him give you a resolution to your concern. If he fails to do so then you can file a complaint against your landlord through the RPA or through your local county.
