Landlord does not respect tenant space
By Prince
I live in a guest house managed by a landlord . Every now and then, the landlord checks the kitchen and bathroom and throws away things that belong to the tenants. The reason given is tht they look old and unused. They have also gone through every tenants refrigerator space and threw things they dint like. This time, they also entered my room and I found things missing. I feel they do not respect my privacy and i am really frustrated. Can I file a complaint and what happens once a complain is filed?

Even though the property is owned by landlord, he cannot enter your room without any permission, because even you also have tenant rights if you are paying the rent to the landlord. Ask him to give prior notice when he will be coming for checking, and this is bad behavior of him to throw away tenants belonging, this is unjust and unethical. If you are fed up with his nuisance, file a complaint. You can file a complaint with RPA, because by going to court or property mediator, it cost a lot. Why not try RPA they have less case filing amount 35$ http://www.rentalprotectionagency.com/complaint_center.php Please check on this link.. once you file a complaint, they immediately assign you a RPA mediating agent and also documents your problem and all paper work details, best part is that it is online and easy steps. and they will contact your owner of home for his reply or resolution on this. Also with RPA filing a complaint you are protected by landlord retaliation and unfair pratices. Hope your problem gets resolved soon. |
