Bed Bugs…should I have been noitfied?

I recently re-signed a 6 month lease for an apartment I have been living in for 2 years. Only a few days after signing it I found out that I have bed bugs in my apartment, after talking to my landlord, they agreed to fix the problem, it’s going to take 3 treatments over 3 weeks (and some money on my part) to hopefully take care of it.  Sine then I started talking to a few of my neighbors, I have found out that a number of tennants in my building have also recently had them. Should an Apartmant have to tell its tennants if there is a breakout? And if so, does this mean that my lease is void?

Bed bugs are very hard to get rid of. For this reason they have become an especial nuisance for apartments. You can’t tell whether a building or room has them based on cleanliness – the bugs can thrive anywhere there are cracks and crevices to hide in. If you have a reliable and safe pesticide, avoiding bed bug encounters will be the only reliable way to ensure they don’t spread into your own home. It’s good that your landlord knows about this bed bug infestation and agreed to fix the problem. So, there’s nothing more to worry. If you want to know if your landlord is aware before you notify him, ask him nicely.
