Can landlord spray Roundup without notification
By Catherine Crandall
It is a beautiful Sunday morning and I am sitting out on our front porch enjoying my one day off of work. Suddenly my landlord shows up with a large container of Roundup and startes spraying the front lawn and garden. The home we are renting sits on a little over an acre of property with two rental units and shared grounds. It was part of our rental agreement that the landlord would maintain the yard and I understand that because of this he will need at times to be on the property working. My question is can he just show up anytime he wants and start spraying chemicals that according the Roundup label states "Keep people and pets off the treated area until the spray solution has dried" without providing any advance notification? We have already had an issue of our dog being poisoned with rat bat that was set out with out us being told and I have asthma; I would perfer not to be around when chemicals are being used. Does anyone know if California renters law require a landlord to notify tenants before spraying chemicals? And,if so, where I might find a listing of the regulation. Thank you in advance for your help.

That’s what I want to know! My nose and throat are burning and I receive no notice when they spray. I would rather set something up with a friend and spend the day there then smell these toxic chemicals. I thought they were supposed to give you notice. |
