Problem with rental 60-day notice.
By Robert Stevens
Hello,
I was recently laid-off from my work and do not have any source of income. My lease is supposed to end at the end of September. I went to the landlord and told them about my situation and they asked for a 60 day notice. I would also have to pay rent for the next 2 month (notice period). Me being laid off was a unforeseeable event, so my question is that, Do I have to give them a notice?
There is no way I can afford the rent for next month. I will move in with my parents and can leave the apartment by the end of next week. Is it necessary to give a 60 day notice? or I can just tell them that I just cant pay? I hope that losing a job is a valid excuse for not being able.
Thanks for your help in advance,
Robert
